Employment Policy

It is the policy of Behler-Young Company that applications for employment are only accepted when there is an open and listed job vacancy. The only exception that will be made to this policy involves people who have specialized HVAC/R experience. We will accept, on an on-going basis, applications from candidates who have administrative HVAC/R experience, sales HVAC/R experience or technical HVAC/R experience. The reason for this exception is that candidates with applicable HVAC/R experience are difficult to find and we feel that we must maintain a bank of qualified candidates. Branch Manager - Warren Branch

Position Description

The Branch Manager will provide Professional Leadership in all aspect of branch management to include Market Development, Sales Strategy Execution, Operational Excellence and the Management of Inside Sales, Customer Service and Warehouse staff, to drive growth in our Warren Branch.

Responsibilities

  • Drive branch profitability by balancing customer needs with branch efficiencies.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of strategic objectives, and product and services offered.
  • Foster an engaged, empowered, motivated work force focused on continuous improvement and achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to associates.
  • Monitor local market trends, develop and execute strategies to grow local market share and aggressively pursue business opportunities.
  • Initiate and build customer relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Monitor customer service levels, resolve local service issues, and take action to assure service excellence.
  • Drive implementation of sales and marketing programs at the branch level. Recommend adjustments to programs based on branch performance compared to goals and manage the improvement process.
  • Act as liaison to functional leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution.
  • Interface with leadership on tactical strategies for improving the cost and operational aspects of the facility.
  • Work closely with vendors to maximize sales and increase profitability.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years P & L responsibility for a large branch operation in an HVAC/R, Electrical, Building Products or related Wholesale Distribution environment.
  • Experience in developing strategies to increase sales, customer service and operating efficiencies.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, effective relationships with customers and functional group.
  • Ability to focus and manage multiple priorities and motivate a large team.
  • Strong competency in the following skill areas: leadership, communication, management and people development, analytical, problem solving, decision making and strategic thinking.
  • Proficient in various software applications including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.

Counter Sales - SE Michigan

This position will be responsible providing exceptional customer service both face-to-face and over the phone.

Product Manager

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Operations, the Product Manager will provide comprehensive coverage of Bryant Residential equipment, accessories and supplies, Payne and other misc. lines.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Interface with vendors on introduction of new products and sales of ongoing products.
  • Manage vendor relationships negotiating best product cost, marketing funds, promotional programs, incentives and rebates.
  • Develop awareness of B-Y competitiveness in field through regular interaction with customers, vendor reps, and B-Y associates. Respond to adverse competitive situations.
  • Determine product pricing strategies in conjunction with pricing manager.
  • Interface with B-Y Associates on product-related questions and trouble-shooting issues. Work with Customer Assurance and training resources; develop and facilitate training as necessary.
  • Develop marketing plans/promotional programs and lead new product launches for assigned product lines.
  • Bring new product recommendations and product merchandising proposals to the Sales & Marketing Committee; work with marketing manager with implementing approved plans.
  • Lead annual product line planning process for B-Y, including sales/gross margin/net profit forecasting, promotion scheduling, associate and customer training, and progress monitoring; develop and manage an operating expense budget.
  • Determine optimum stocking strategy (item selection and location) in conjunction with purchasing in order to achieve corporate inventory goals; spearhead disposal of surplus inventory.

Skills & Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of five years product management experience, including superior marketing and promotional experience with key product lines, preferably in an HVAC wholesale distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of HVAC products preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated negotiating ability and problem solving skills; demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written as well as strong presentation and facilitation skills; ability to handle multiple projects/efforts simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, the Internet and local networking; PowerPoint and Outlook experience preferred.
  • The ability to travel to customer sites as well as to off-site meetings or training.
