About B-Y

Company History

The Behler-Young Company was founded in 1926 by Wayne H. "Brig" Young and John E. Behler. The early emphasis was distribution of sheet metal products and almost from its inception, the company manufactured sheet metal pipe and fittings for the gravity, coal-fired furnaces it marketed. Repair castings for coal furnaces were the major items in the 20s and 30s. The founders were committed to the concept of a high level of customer service and used the slogan "Same Day Shippers."

In 1989, the company made the decision to focus its resources and energy in the distribution business and sold its sheet metal manufacturing plant.Dick and Doug Young

In 1992, the third generation took over the helm when Doug Young was elected president. Today the company employs over 200 persons and occupies 415,000-sq. ft. of office and warehouse space in 17 locations, including Toledo and an 180,000 sq., ft. state-of-the-art distribution center in Brighton, Michigan. Though the company continues to grow and evolve, we at B-Y remain dedicated to becoming the number one supplier to the heating, air conditioning, hydronic, and ventilating contractors throughout Michigan.
